Catholic Charities

“Catholic Charities is looking for dedicated men and women who are committed to excellence in health and human services,” says Human Resources Generalist Stephanie Johnston. “Catholic Charities has attended Lakeland Community College's Fall Career Fair for the last 2-3 years. Each year it has become larger, and more importantly, the selection of qualified candidates has increased.”

Cleveland Catholic Charities, a non profit organization, helps people through 123 services at over 64 locations in the northeast Ohio area. Their Disability Services, Emergency Assistance Services, Hunger and Shelter Network, Marriage and Family Ministry, Migration and Refugee Services, Hispanic Services, Special Ministry to the Aged, Youth & Young Adult Ministry, Outpatient Mental Health Services, Foster Care and Adoption Services, and Chemical Dependency Services – just to name a few – serves hundreds of thousands of the people from Ashland, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit and Wayne counties.

The organization has “a long and strong history” which focuses on children and families, older adults, persons with disabilities and persons with emergency and transitional needs; provides chemical dependency counseling, family centers and day care programs, employment and training services and community-based family services; advocates for the poor and the marginalized; administers to the sick and incarcerated; and develops affordable, market-rate housing options.

Ms. Johnston says, “Barbara Britt and the Lakeland Career Services department are truly a hidden treasure! The staff are all very welcoming and genuinely want to guide and assist all they come in contact with; students, alumni, and the employers. I truly did not realize all of the ways the career services department could assist Catholic Charities in filling our open positions and helping us to get our name out to future graduates of Lakeland. The only thing I am disappointed in is that we did not start this venture sooner!
