Northeast Ohio manufacturers plan to hire over 60,000 manufacturing workers in the next 5 to 10 years due to retirements. Local manufacturing companies need innovative, dedicated, inspired and hardworking people to keep our economy strong and robust!

Knowing this, the AWT (Alliance for Working Together), now approximately 100 companies strong, is focused on creating opportunities and the college education of future employees. The AWT is an alliance of Lake County and Greater Northeastern Ohio manufacturing businesses, technology based educational institutions and associated businesses. The AWT has worked hard to promote this dynamic career field by creating social media pieces, a website (www.thinkmfg.com), a scholarship program (generating over $200,000 in scholarship funds), a 2 year Associates Degree program with Lakeland Community College, a monthly e-newsletter, middle and high school tours to thriving local manufacturing businesses , high school video contests, an AWT speaker’s bureau available to school, business and community organizations and the 2nd Annual AWT Regional RoboBots competition, which will be held April 28, 2012.
